Located in the East Neuk of Fife on Scotland’s east coast and famously known as 'The Home of Golf', St Andrews is a world renowned tourist destination that additionally offers so much by way of historical interest, stunning unspoilt beaches, numerous points of interest and the sheer charm that exudes from every corner of this wonderful town. It was King James II of Scotland who is said to have described the East Neuk of Fife as ‘a fringe of gold on a beggar’s mantle’ and St Andrews could be regarded as the jewelled clasp on that mantle. The University of St Andrews is also famous the World over and will celebrate the 700th anniversary of its founding in 2011. The establishment of St Andrews Cathedral and St Rule's Tower predates the University by some 100 years and, together with The Castle, offer a wealth of historical interest that is well worth exploring. As with many seaside towns it was the coming of the railway that led to its popularity as a holiday destination.

The historical aspects of St Andrews attract many visitors but golf is the magnet for golfers frae a' the airts. The famous Old Course is known throughout the World and when The Castle Course is opened for general play in early summer 2008 golfers will be spoiled for choice by the 7 courses under the control of St Andrews Links Trust together with other gems to be found at St Andrews Bay, Kingsbarns, The Dukes Course and numerous other courses around the coast.

Much is made of the town's medieval layout and there is much to suit all tastes when exploring the nooks and crannies of this unique Royal Burgh. There are also many areas of natural beauty on the doorstep with The Fife Coastal Path and Lomond Hills being easily accessed.
